Dr. Madeline Farber
Clinical Psychologist, UNC School of Education & Bull City Behavioral Health
Madeline Farber, PhD, LP (she/her) is a clinical psychologist based in Efland, North Carolina. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duke University, her B.A. in Psychology from Cornell University, and completed a Postbaccalaueate Intramural Research Training Fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health.
In clinical practice, Madeline works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She prioritizes a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to clinical care. Her particular interests include trauma-informed care, mental health equity, and developmental trajectories of risk & resilience. Her guiding principle is that healing happens in the community, for each individual in their unique familial and cultural context.
After four years in the inpatient setting working with children & adolescents in acute crisis, Madeline recently shifted her focus to providing care at the community level. She provides psychological assessment and intervention in the outpatient setting at Bull City Behavioral Health and does preventative intervention research in schools across North Carolina with the TeaLeaf (Teachers Leading the Frontlines) program, currently housed in UNC School of Education.
Outside of work, Madeline enjoys: exploring nature with her horse-sized dog, reading & writing poetry, gardening & woodworking, and complaining about North Carolina humidity. Other things Madeline cares deeply about include: liberation for all, intersectional feminism, anti-racism & anti-oppression, LGBTQIA+ inclusivity, & laughter turning to tears & vice versa.
