Darren Peters
C4CC Executive Director, Occupational Therapist, Wellness Coach
Darren Peters, MOTR/L, BCMH, NBCHWC (he/him) is an American Board-certified mental health occupational therapist and nationally board-certified wellness coach who’s dedicated to making a difference. Originally from the UK, Darren specialized in forensic and community mental health for the National Health Service, which set the stage for his lifelong commitment to helping others. In 2014, he moved to Chicago, where he provided specialized community-based mental health services and taught as an adjunct at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Occupational Therapy Masters program.
By 2017, Darren found his way to North Carolina, where he continued to make an impact across various settings— from inpatient facilities to community outreach. He’s worked with everyone from kids to older adults, bringing his passion for mental health and wellness into every interaction.
But Darren isn’t just about clinical care. He’s a strong advocate for community-based services, especially for those who are marginalized and struggle with access to mental health resources. Whether he’s leading, lecturing, or coaching, Darren’s mission is clear: to support communities in need and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
With his mix of expertise, empathy, and a commitment to making mental health care accessible, Darren Peters is someone who not only understands the complexities of mental health but is also actively working to create positive change.
“I believe everyone has the right to be whoever they want to be and engage in meaningful activities while forming genuine connections — without stigma, ridicule, or persecution,” says Darren. And he’s committed to making that belief a reality for everyone he works with.
